What is E-Drill?

The E-Drill System is an advanced aerospace maintenance solution designed to transform the process of removing fasteners from aircraft and other structures. Traditional drilling methods can be slow, inconsistent, and risk damaging the underlying material. E-Drill solves these challenges by using Electro-Discharge Machining (EDM)—a non-contact, spark erosion process that precisely machines a groove beneath the head of the fastener, allowing it to be easily punched out without stressing the surrounding structure.

Key advantages of E-Drill include:

  • Speed: Dramatically reduces removal times compared to conventional methods, improving overall repair efficiency.
  • Precision: Cuts into fasteners to exact depths, ensuring repeatable and controlled results.
  • Safety: Reduces risks of operator injury associated with broken drill bits, repetitive strain, and drilling debris.
  • Damage Avoidance: Protects expensive airframe components by exponentially reducing the risk of drill slips, bit walk, or hole elongation.
  • Versatility: Works on a wide range of metallic fasteners, from titanium Hi-Loks to solid aluminum rivets, across various materials including composites and metal substrates.

The E-Drill System has been adopted by major aerospace OEMs, MRO facilities, and military depots worldwide, enabling maintenance teams to streamline their operations and significantly reduce costs associated with rework or structural repair.
