How Does S-Blaster Work?

S‑Blaster is Perfect Point’s portable, precision media-blasting tool engineered specifically for fastener preparation and surface cleaning. Whether you’re prepping for E‑Drill use or de-painting fasteners for conventional removal, S‑Blaster makes the process faster, safer, and more efficient.

A Closer Look at the Process

S‑Blaster uses a closed-loop system to apply a stream of fine, plastic blast media directly to the head of the fastener. The system includes:

  • Masking Locator Cups: These ensure that only the target fastener is exposed, while the surrounding structure remains protected.
  • Blast Nozzle: Delivers the plastic media at just the right pressure to strip coatings without damaging the fastener or surrounding material.
  • Vacuum Return System: Simultaneously vacuums the media and debris back into the machine, keeping the area clean.
  • HEPA Filtration: After separation, clean air is expelled through a certified HEPA filter, reducing airborne particles and improving shop safety.

The entire operation is lightweight, low-profile, and portable, with a standard 6-foot hose and optional backpack-mounted setup for working directly on aircraft or complex assemblies.

Designed for Aerospace Paints and Coatings

S‑Blaster is particularly effective at removing:

  • Paints, primers, and topcoats
  • Sealants or adhesives covering fastener heads
  • Buildup inside fastener features (e.g., Phillips or Torx heads)

By clearing coatings from the fastener head, S‑Blaster helps prevent tool slippage and stripping—especially on paint-filled screws or recessed hardware.

Not Just a Companion to E‑Drill

While S‑Blaster was originally designed to prep fasteners for E‑Drill, many technicians use it as a standalone tool, especially when working with painted panel screws or when a full EDM process isn’t required.
