Collar-Side

The key to the E-Drill process is LOCATION, it’s why our damage rate is less than 1%. For collar-side removal, the collar adapter with an integral O-ring sized according to the collar diameter, is placed over the target fastener. This ensures a mechanically concentric holder over the fastener.

Once the locator is in place, the operator simply pull's the trigger to start the cut process.

For collar-side removal, E-Drill simply cuts through the threads without coming near to the structure or skin, leaving a significant margin to ensure no damage is done to the aircraft. Locator tools are key to the “Perfect Cut” and when used correctly, completely eliminates accidental damage to the structure.

Since we can mechanically lock onto the collar-side of the fastener, there is no need for vacuum tooling, as is required for flush-installed fasteners. The E-Drill is simply placed over the collar while the adapter keeps the handtool centered and prevents damage during the cut.

For collar-side removal, the E-Drill cuts cleanly through the threads without coming into contact with the surrounding structure or skin, leaving a safe margin to protect the aircraft.
