E-DRILL PROTRUDING
HEAD TOOLING
Button Head Locator
Once the locator is in place, it is held steady with one hand while the E-Drill hand tool is used with the other to make the cut. Locator tools are key to the “Perfect Cut” and when used correctly, completely eliminates accidental damage to the structure.

E-Drill Hand Tool
Inserted into BHL during cut
Since we can mechanically lock onto a protruding head fastener, there is no need for vacuum tooling, as is required for flush-installed fasteners. The E-Drill is simply placed into the locator to keep it centered and prevent damage during cutting. One hand holds the Button Head Locator (BHL) steady over the fastener with light pressure, just enough to seal the O-ring, while the other hand operates the E-Drill hand tool.

Seals over the fastener head
The outside diameter and sealing surface of BHL assemblies is optimized to fit between fastener heads spaced per industry standard (typically greater than 4 to1, spacing to diameter), while maximizing the footprint to enhance perpendicularity.

The metal inserts are removable and are pre-bored to fit specific fastener head diameters. These inserts can be supplied pre-bored to a specified size upon request, or customers can purchase piloted blanks either individually or pre-assembled, which they can bore to their own requirements. Hexagonal inserts are also available for hex-head blind fasteners and the removal of seized nuts and bolts.
